Russell Wilson proves that investing in yourself is worth it

You may think that you are one of the best investors on the planet. However, you know nothing about the kind of investing that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson does. Wilson has played in two Super Bowls and signed a four-year, $140 million contracts last season making him (at the time) the highest-paid player in the NFL.

At 32 years old, how does he constantly insert his name in the MVP conversation? Wilson let it be known that he spends on average $1 million on his body each year. If Wilson has the choice, he wants to be like Tom Brady (43) and play until he is 45 years old.

The recovery process

The Seahawks are a constantly favored member in the online sports betting industry. That includes a full-time personal trainer, a full-time physical therapist, a full-time masseuse, two chefs, and two hyperbaric chambers. He works out every day and only takes off days on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Spending $1 million is a lot of money, but when you are making $40 million each year, the recovery investment is going to pay off in the long run.

It’s not any different than any other business. His body is his company. He needs to take care of his business and make sure that he is refurbishing the product. Wilson will be in the top-3 voting for MVP this season. He led the Seahawks to the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs. He will likely help the team contend for a spot in the NFC Championship Game. Why? He takes care of himself.

The commitment

You can eat all the top superfoods and spend all the money you want. However, if you are not committed to the process, then everything is all for not. It’s impressive that Wilson is truly committed to his performance and longevity. Most football quarterbacks would love a career like Wilson at the end. At 32 years old, he still has plenty of prime years left.

Wilson is choosing to invest in himself. By the time his contract runs out, he will be 35 years old. We have seen Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, and Tom Brady all produce MVP seasons after that age. Heck, Rodgers is likely going to win the award at 37. Most players don’t invest in themselves when they get paid these huge salaries.

A popular player

Wilson has been married to singer Ciara since 2016 and just welcomed their third baby. Wilson is an active member of social media. He has commented on social issues and topics in the past. His wife is also active on social media and posts pictures of the family performing activities together.

While Wilson may be one of the best football players on the field, fans love that he seems like a “normal human being.” Wilson is smart for investing in himself, but he hasn’t let the money go to his head. That’s why even the casual NFL fan is drawn to him.
